Aloha from the airport!
Once again I have put my travelling shoes on to make a venture across this great land. I'm drinking an Orangecicle flavoured booster juice (a letdown if I do say so) and watching CBC news in French. I got grizzy-groped on my way through security today and aside from the fact saying grizzy-groped is hilarious it wasn't nearly the invasion of privacy people made it out to be. I would always select that over having a photographic x-ray of my business, but it really wasn't a big deal at all.
The buses in HRM are still on strike and I will say, with further investigation I have become convinced that for once council is doing the right thing. I think I support the bus drivers themselves because once they start striking it's up to the head of their union to tell them when they can stop so now they are out in the cold not working and stuck doing that because someone who I won't name but who you I'm sure are aware of is refusing to negotiate. It's about compromise! This idea that you can get everything you want is silly and as the strike goes on the offers from the city will (hopefully) become less and less desirable. In which everyone loses.
The city loses because it's citizens are without transit and no matter whether the mayor is doing the right thing holding his ground on the ridiculous demands people will still be mad the strike happened at all. The transit union loses because they've lost all public support, they've lost wages and in the end probably won't get to chose their schedules or get the raise they were hoping for. Most of all at this point though the people who rely on transit to get around are going to lose.
I know I've yet to be personally affected by the strike but I know many people who rely on transit to get them where they need to be. It's already dampened many of my plans for my week home, I know poor me having my vacation interrupted when it's actually affecting peoples real lives. I would be inclined to agree it's much less of a problem for me, but it's still sad that I won't be able to see all the people I love because one or both of us can't get to a common location.

That's my rant about that however, we are boarding in just a few minutes so I should wrap this up. This is in fact only the second trip I've ever taken with my man-friend, it will be weird to actually want to talk to the person next to me. Now if only he wanted to talk back!
Enjoy your Saturday! Hope you don't need a bus ride, I hear they are on strike!
Keep Smiling :)
