Quest for Happiness [Day 14]

Today is awesome! I am in an incredibly happy place and I have no idea why. I just feel like laughing hysterically at anything and can't wipe the silly smile off my face.

Since I have no idea why I am so happy today, I am going to take this opportunity to reflect on other times that I was super happy since I can identify a reason for those. One of my goals was to reflect on the past so that is what I'm going to do tonight.

Prom: I am probably the only person in the world for whom prom actually lived up to the hype. I loved every minute of it, from the overpriced dress, awkward dinner, to the cheesy song selections.

University Graduation: Another day that completely lived up to the hype in my head. I also was very happy, because for the first time in recent memory my hair looked exactly like I wanted it to for the whole day (slightly vain I know!)

SMU Football Games: I'll admit it, in the hours preceeding, during and following Huskies football games I was unbearable. I bounced off the walls the entire time, jumping up and down on every play and was constantly yelling. Luckily we had a winning team, but either way I was usually hyper-active.

Canada Day (Every year): I consider the Canada Day celebrations as part of my extended birthday party but it's always just such a fun summer day. In high school we would spend the day wandering Halifax (it was much more exciting back then!). Once I discovered Joel Plaskett the free concerts became an annual event as well.

Royal Wedding: Again, this sounds outrageous but I was blissfully happy when Will & Kate became the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge. I couldn't sleep the night before the wedding because I was so excited and then watched both the live and the repeat showings of the wedding completely immersed every time.

Madonna Concert: On a whim I went on a trip to NYC with a couple of friends from school. While we were there we found a story in a free newspaper about a Madonna concert the next day that would be free if you got a wristband. Luckily we were staying one more day and got up bright and early to wait in line for the wristbands, we got them and then came back a few hours later to wait in line for the actual concert! It was a small venue and she only played a small set but it was amazing. What really made the night for me was when Justin Timberlake showed up (this was during the 4 Minutes phase!)

Looking back, I have had so many happy days that tend to slip from memory. Once I started writing tonight my mind flooded with ideas. Unfortunately I don't have any of pictures of most of these events on my computer, but I'll try and track some down for a future post.

Feel free to share some of your happiest days in the comments!

That's all for tonight, and if you need something to be happy about: Tomorrow is Friday!

Keep Smiling :)

Sidenote: I always include pictures of Jay & I because I have his permission to share his face all over my blog. I like everyone else an equal amount but it seems shady to post pictures of everyone else without a permission. Just wanted to explain it so you knew I wasn't just being obnoxious!
