Where I'm From

Source
Today I am thankful to come from such a wonderful place. I am so proud to be from Nova Scotia and to have grown up with the ocean in my sights. I have been feeling a slight bit homesick lately (ok, homesick is not the right word, nostalgic maybe?) and want to pay homage to my beloved homeland.

Halifax is a place where people always thank their bus drivers and shovel the sidewalks in winter. In Halifax you can get amazing donairs, like AMAZING and spectacular pepperoni. The ocean provides a stunning backdrop and the harbour looks gorgeous encased in the seemingly endless fog. Halifax boasts an amazing summer Busker festival, a great pub scene, tons of historic sites and SMU football! Oh, and my city is known as "The Darkside," how much more bada** could it be?

I know most everyone has a soft spot for their hometowns, so I do not want to argue that Dartmouth & Halifax is better than somewhere else. It is just the best place for me.

I miss the ocean breeze, the rainy springs, the slushy winters. I miss the people, the donairs, Citadel Hill, and riding the ferry across the harbour. I miss my family and friends. Basically I miss the whole darn place!

I am just so grateful to have grown up in such a beautiful place.

Oh and Halifax is home to so much amazing music including: Joel Plaskett, Classified & Matt Mays. Many a good night has been spent at free outdoor concerts rocking out to those fellas.

If you are from Hali, what awesome traits did I miss? If you aren't from Hali, what makes your hometown special?

Keep Smiling :)
