Together Jay & I came up with a few ideas of activities we wanted to do this summer, to try and avoid cranky Saturdays on the couch arguing because we had nothing to do. Our ideas were varied and many are things we've never done before. This weekend we decided to give one of the ideas a try by taking a brewery tour at the Kichesippi Beer Company.

Kichesippi is a local craft beer brewery, only three years old! Jay was familiar with their beers and the brewery was close to home so it seemed like a perfect Saturday activity. We got to try a couple of different types and see how they make both their beer and soda.
Jay found it particularly interesting that they abide by the Bavarian Purity Law when brewing all their beers. Basically that means that there are only 4 ingredients: water, hops, barley and yeast. I'm typically not a big beer fan but this stuff was pretty good and I like learning how things are made. All in all a great Saturday afternoon!
While on the tour we learned a few other craft breweries in the area would be participating in a Brewery Market in our neighbourhood Sunday afternoon. So naturally we decided to continue our local beer experience and head to the park for beer and burgers this afternoon.
It was a great atmosphere and fun to get out of the house and try something new for the second day in a row. We are terrible for walking right by festivals or basically running from one end to the other to avoid the crowds. Today we stayed well over an hour happily taking in the sights and enjoying special collaboration beers. I had a cranberry seasonal that was just delicious!
