Summer Lovin'

We're just back from over a week of vacation fun in Halifax, it was probably our very best vacation back home yet. We managed to see just about everyone and at the same time have lots of time to relax. I'm still adjusting to non-vacation life, so today is going to be a bit of a photo dump from the past few weeks. Don't judge, coming back to real life is hard.

You should probably play the let me take a Selfie song as you look at this post, because basically this is just a bunch of shots of our faces mashed together. #sorrynotsorry

Over the Canada Day long weekend we ventured out on a few mini-road trips, including one to Fort Wellington, which was used during the War of 1812. We were basically the only people there not employed by the Fort, so lots of attention- we even got to make hats!

In front of another 1812 landmark, formerly a Windmill this now Lighthouse was the site of a lot of fighting. We didn't go inside because it cost $2/each and we're cheap, but we did have a nice picnic.

Enjoying the Canada Day celebrations in downtown Ottawa. Lots of people, hot weather and some delicious BBQ corn on the cob made for a great day. Less great was finding out our favourite firework watching spot was unavailable and then having a torrential rain storm start up just as the fireworks lit up the sky.

Gotta love those grainy iPhone photos.

Once in Hali, Jay stood in a friends wedding so we had a chance to get all fancied up and got to enjoy a night of dancing and I was able to catch up with a few high school friends that I hadn't seen, well basically since then. Sidenote: We were perfectly matching by complete accident- I just love that dress.

Hanging out on top of the Farmer's Market with my sister and creeping on Jay. He loved it, of course.

Speaking of my sister, the photobooth where we usually take photos was out of order (yes, we're photobooth regulars), so we climbed in anyway and took pictures with her cell phone. This photo IS us, completely. We managed to convince Jay to participate for a couple but he wasn't quite as easily amused, we would have stayed all day.

We spent a few days in the country at the cottage, turned home of my parents. Jay had lots of fun helping my dad out, they spent most of their time under the camp using power tools! My mom and I tried out a few new recipes and enjoyed our time together- plus, that view! Love it.

While we were home we also had a couple of brunch dates, enjoyed a fabulous BBQ with friends not seen often enough and spent plenty of time with our dear sisters. It was so nice to have time, without the craziness of our own wedding to distract us from actually connecting with everyone we love.

July has been very good to us so far, I'm excited for what adventures lie ahead this summer! I'd love to hear about your summer adventures!

Linking up with Meg for Mingle Monday, Leann for Monday Morning Gossip and Molly for the newly re-vamped Let It Shine link up. Let me know if you've stopped by from the Link Ups.

I didn't share any food pictures for this week's #Letitshine theme, but I definitely could write about food. We ate and ate and ate while I was home. The best? Fish & Chips because they just taste better by the ocean! Jay & I had a few too many conversations, that went like this:

Jay: "You can't eat french fries everyday for lunch"
Kim: "Yes I can, don't tell me what to do" *rolls eyes*
Jay: "Ok, whatever you want"
two hours later
Kim: "Why did I eat so many french fries?? Why did you let me?" *whines dramatically*
Jay: ...well really what could he say here?

Keep Smiling :)
