It has been almost a month since I've written and that's mostly because aside from a few really good poor me stories I have had nothing to share.
We celebrated our 5th anniversary with a trip to our favourite (Ontario) city, Kingston. Sadly it rained all day, so instead we went shopping. I then proceeded to feel like crap (which was expected as I had been battling what appeared to be a flu for about a week). By late Saturday night I was a miserable mess.
The only thing saving both mine and Jay's sanity was watching HGTV and dreaming about our future as homeowners. Cue disaster when the TV went out, leaving me with nothing but the thoughts of my extreme sickness. Oh, and it was like 35 degrees celsius in the hotel room, so all around not awesome. By Sunday I felt so crappy I skipped a FREE Ottawa Senators game. I love free stuff more than anything, and go wild at SENS games, but I was fairly light-headed and unhappy so loud noises, lots of stairs and flashing lights were a no-go. Oh, and then it was a game that went into both overtime and a shoot-out.
All this cumulated in Jay taking my overly emotional butt to the emergency room on two days later. I cried like a baby after they gave me an IV, apparently when I'm sick needles just send me over the edge. I then had a head CT and it was determined I had acute sinusitis. YUCK. The only pleasant side of it all is that I got to see my brain for the first time ever- it's as awesome looking as I'd imagined.
So the rest of November has been spent choking down horse pills (and seriously I choke every time) and mostly taking it easy. After the medicine kicked in a bit I was at least mostly functional as a human being again. Three weeks of antibiotics is enough to fix just about anything I guess!
Finally, I got to go back to work much to everyone's delight. While I was home I did manage to make it through 3 seasons of Dawson's Creek- one of the few shows from my childhood that lived up to my memories. I love it more now than before, except I just made it to Season 5 and I am heartbroken for the Leery family.
My kiddos made the sweetest cards which we mailed to soldiers still on deployment for Remembrance Day. Lots of xoxox's, hearts and doves- I was so proud of them. They also wrote things like "Thank you for saving our country" and "Canada is a great country."
Then I managed to bang up my foot- so badly that I was limping and icing it often. It was unpleasant and made me a whiny patient for Jay for the second time in two weeks. He was not too impressed, but once again he took wonderful care of me. I've decided I need to embrace responsible shoes to prevent further instances and since my Birkenstocks don't have backs I have invested in the least ugly Crocs I could find (flats of course!) to hopefully prevent future limping adventures.
Best of all, in a month and two days it will be CHRISTMAS! I am already baking and crafting constantly and Jay and I have been listening to the Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama Christmas albums like it's our job.
So basically you missed nothing in the not so exciting lives of Kim and Jay this November. Here's hoping December holds less sickness and more awesome adventures!

Not the best quality picture, but that dress was $5 at the GAP. $5! Down from $70. Score! |
