Today's letter is actually a birthday card for one of my very best friends. Since we met in Grade 10 French she has been a constant in my life, accompanying me on many of my craziest antics, always as the voice of reason.
10 years later (holy!) one of my favourite memories is the first time she, another mutual friend and I went on our first mall trip together. Somehow we had a recording device and it recorded her saying, "I think it will be.... fun" or something to that extent when we questioned her feelings on the adventure. We then proceeded to end up at the mall in bandanna's with fake moustaches and our photo on the wall at Bluenotes, where it stayed for years.
Then there was our {brief} foray into the gift basket business. It lasted all of the Summer after Grade 12- but we never actually had any customers. We did have a website though!
There is also a time when somewhere between Maine and New Brunswick came thisclose to running out of gas on the highway with no gas station in sight! That was a stressful few minutes, with no idea who to call should we actually run out. Luckily at the last possible moment we encountered a gas station down a dusty road (straight out of a horror movie)!
Just last weekend, she painstakingly cut out about 30 temporary tattoos and then arranged them to create a (extremely) classy tattoo sleeve for me. She's amazing.
She's been there for me through some crappy life stuff, but also for all the big moments, including of course when I married Jay. She is truly a delight and I'm so happy to be able to celebrate her today :)
Friends are just the best. The absolute best.
With Love,
Kimberley
