Happy Friday!
I hope everyone had a great week, I can honestly say that I had a brilliant week :) Hopefully that is the case for the rest of you as well, although I know those of you in Halifax had quite the stormy situation on your hands earlier this week. We had our first snow fall here on Wednesday, a few centimeters of snow and then two days of double digit temperatures and it's all gone.
It appears Ottawa's approach to snow is quite different from that which I've grown to love in Halifax. Despite the fact it was still snowing as I left for work people everywhere were going about their business, buses ran mostly on time, school was open. It's fascinating to think a city can exist where a little snow doesn't shut down the city.
It is a possibility that thus far my only interaction with winter has been closely tied to school, whether being in it or working with people who are so my view of Halifax's reaction to snow might be biased. If it is I commend you poor souls who've ventured to work in snowstorms for years, I had no idea people worked when it was snowing hahah!

Our back steps in the wee morning hours. |
Out the front door, people went to work in this! |
I attempted to get my dance on at Zumba this week, rushed home from work got my fancy dancy workout clothes on only to find out it was cancelled. But it doesn't matter whether I went or not, just that I thought about it. Exercising is like gift giving... it's the thought that counts!
I've become a tea aficionado, brewing my own fancy loose leaf tea and ordering fancy tea blends when I go out for "coffee." I'll let you in on a secret though.....promise you won't tell? I think it mostly all tastes the same, especially since I like to drink it mostly cold. I also like to microwave my tea, as my YouthNet family can attest to! Hahah.
Jay and I went shopping last weekend, I'm trying to make progress on the Christmas shopping but it's not going so well. I mostly just like being in the mall, and one good thing about moving to a new city, the malls are all new and exciting! The downside, I spend half my time lost because it's a new mall. When we were Christmas shopping, I did realize that we(Read: Jason) have really made the conversion from regular folk to hipsters....he's practically a GAP model. And check this sweater out, it's no longer ironic, the conversion is complete!
My Hipster Boyfriend <3 |
Like I said, I had a brilliant week. I think I'm really starting to figure out how to exist in this new land, and more importantly how to live with Jason but exist as my own person and not need to be staring into his pretty eyes all day long. I'm still in search of some kind of class or night activity that will help me mingle with others after work, but so far no luck!
I know I share my thoughts on the Sens frequently, but I really do love them. Sadly they have the misfortune of playing the stinky penguins tonight and it's not going so well. It's probably because the penguins are so smelly, my Sens just don't want to get any close enough to the net to score, they just want to skate around and avoid all contact with those nasty, weak moustached "hockey players." More like bullies, and Crosby elbowed Foligno and they equally smelly refs gave both of them a penalty. Dirty moves. I am not please with the outcome of this at all.
How I feel about the end of the silly Sens-Pens game. (haha Sens Pens- it rhymes!) |
This weekend is also Vanier/Grey Cup weekend, which used to register as quite a big deal on my radar. Back in my youth when I spent my weekends in coveralls sliding down a hill at SMU, sadly despite my efforts the Huskies haven't won a Vanier Cup in quite a while, and didn't even come close to playing for it this year. Perhaps my presence was missed, they couldn't feel my Huskies pride pouring from the stands! Just for kicks, some photos of my dirty hill sliding days. That suit smelled SO bad!
Thank you Sarah for capturing these classy moments in my life. |
So much fun! |
I've been meaning to share these videos for weeks and weeks now. I've always been a big fan of Nova Scotia Classified's song Maritimes. Sure, some of the words are a little, less classy shall we say, but overall it's a pretty solid song. And then I found out Ottawa has a similar song Capcity (Ottawa Song), by Peter Joynt. It's perfect I love a good beat and what could be better than a beat for both my hometown and my new town.
It is Friday night, so I think I am going to watch the last 46 seconds of the Sens game and drown my sorrows over a glass of loose leaf tea.
Keep Smiling :)
You should take a knitting class and knit me a hat! Get on it friend.
