It's 2012! Happy New Year!

-->
Disclaimer: I started this three days ago, when it was still in fact 2011 and since it's taken three days to get ready to post it I am going to leave it for you in it's original state otherwise you may have to wait until 2013 by the time I get it posted!

As I write this it is the last full night of 2011. It doesn't seem possible that 365 days have passed since 2011 started, but the calender does indicate that this is the case. Of all the years of my life, this has been one of one a handful that I remember including drastic change, and this change I would have to argue might be the most drastic of them all.
If you had asked me on January 1st 2011 where I thought I would be on December 31st I don't know exactly what my answer would have been but I can assure you it wouldn't include living in Ottawa or doing anything other than working with kids. Yet, I am generally very contented with my life at the moment. One of my goals for the next 365 days is to take a more positive approach to everything in my life. I feel like I was once much more of an optimist that I am now, I think old age has jaded me. I am going to really try and embrace the positive things in my life.
I love that Jason and I are finally able to live in the same place, really even in the same city. I hadn't been counting on this happening until at least June of 2012 as if all went according to plan I'd be graduating as a Social Worker in May 2012, and Jay would be about half way through his course, rather than completed. I think one of the lessons I learned this year (or more correctly am still working to learn!) is that things don't go according to plan. It's like that quote, “life is what happens when you are busy making plans.” That pretty much sums up what's happened to every plan I've made in the last 12 months, and let's be honest there have been a lot of plans because I love having my life scheduled down to the last minute.
I spent months dreaming of an escape from the drama at a certain youth drop in centre, and now I dream regularly about going back. It made a way larger impact on my life than I fully comprehended until I left. Probably had something to do with the fact I shared a desk (and kitchen!) with the most supa fly girl ever! The weekly dodgeball and Justin Bieber dance parties didn't hurt either!
As I've mentioned before, I am so appreciative of the support of everyone in our transition to life in a new province. I went from being in one long distance relationship with Jason, to multiple long distance relationships (or friendships if you prefer) and I know sometimes I don't reply to emails, texts, calls, or letters as often as I should but I love every single thing sent to me and I am going to work harder in 2012 to be a better long distance friend and to cut down on the distance with more frequent trips to the homeland!
To recap quickly this year I: was in a Joel Plaskett flash mob, drove (ok was a passenger) for three Halifax/Ottawa road trips, celebrated the Royal Wedding, left behind twenty-one of the most amazing young people and co-workers, turned the big 2-3!, spent the summer “Party Rocking” with a new crew of cool kids and co-workers, became a die-hard Senators fan, got a “grown up job,” and learned how to bake banana bread. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.
My final goal(that I'm up to sharing at least! I'll probably fill a few pages in my journal tonight with other goals for life, health, work and money!), is to make one vlog(that's a video blog!) every two weeks. I know I've been promising to make vlogs (that's a video blog!) more often and not always delivering but I am starting to find more efficient ways to make and upload videos so hopefully that will cut down on the delays. If I may give myself a little props, I think in the past few weeks I've improved the frequency of blog posts at least, so it is possible for me to get better at the vlogs (that's a video blog!) as well!
These are unrelated to goals, but do relate to 2012. Two of my favorite movies of all time are coming back to theatres! Beauty and the Beast, which was the first movie I ever saw [or remember seeing] in theatres with my Dad is coming back in 3D! Then there is the most exciting thing ever TITANIC is coming back to theatres (also in 3D of course because that's the way all good movies are now *rolls eyes*). I was too young to see Titanic in theatres back in the day, but I have always been facsinated by Titanic so I will certainly see it in theatres this time around. In elementary school I used to write up newspaper articles about the Titanic and share them with the class just for fun, how cool was I?

Since in the last blog I promised you lists, I should probably deliver at least a couple eh?
