Just when you thought I had abandoned blogging forever, I'm back! Hahah, I know you were probably getting really upset at the absence of my foolish thoughts invading your living room. But fear not, I just didn't have much news and was tired of fighting with my laptop.
I ended up home from work early both Thursday & Friday due to snow & freezing rain. 'Twas a messy few days. It was supposed to be pretty gross out today and tomorrow as well, but it so far so good. I've realized though, it's not that Ottawa gets colder than Halifax (I remember a few -30 with windchill days in Haliwood) but in Ottawa, warmer than about -21 is an anomoally, whereas in Halifax -21 is more the anomally. It is cold here all the time.
I have a knee length black coat with a fur collar which is brilliantly warm, only trouble is EVERY girl in Ottawa owns the same coat. No joke, every day I at the bus stop at least one of the other two people waiting with me is wearing essentially the same coat. Then on the bus, another five ladies are looking equally fashionable. It's like the Ottawa uniform, along with a foam Senators hat.

I've been photographing the weather, to document the messiness of the sidewalks I've been whining about quite consistently. The sidewalks are very seldom clear, and always slippery with patches of ice and the roads are NEVER clear! haha. The plows don't quite commit to actually clearing the road really just pushing it into the intersections, not helpful.
I would consider this a clear sidewalk by O-Town standards |
Mostly I just thought the playground was pretty in the snow, not very informative on the road conditions I know. None of this snow has melted yet, so there's a little info for ya! |
I saw these signs on the street posts, I spent about a week trying to get a picture of them in the morning, afternoon, evening so that I could cleverly post them for you like the Skidamarinky Dinky Dink song. But alas I could only get afternoon & evening, they got ripped down before I could complete my mission. Regardless... I love you in the morning and in the afternoon, I love you in the evening underneath the moOOOOn!
It's true I do :) |
One life lesson I learned this week, is that it's ok even for me to make mistakes. I made a little oops! at work, not a big deal by regular world standards, but I felt pretty terrible about myself most of last night. It's funny that I've spent many days explaining to kiddies that everyone makes mistakes, it's not a big deal, move on but when it's my own life, not so much on the it's not a big deal. I am a wee bit dramatic in nature, although compared to previous dramas I handled this pretty well if I do say so myself.
In some mail writing lesson news, I purchased many more Royal Wedding stamps so Will & Kate will grace my mail for at least another 6-8 months! Woot. Also Jason and I ordered some wicked cool return address labels, they have porcupines on them :) It will help feed my motivation to keep up with my letter writing goals for this year.
Whitney will be on in just a few minutes I am pumped. It's hilarious, I am quite sure that she is an older more eccentric version of myself :) I think I will be an awesome thirty year old, just FYI. By then I will have fully grown into my eccentric ways and be just rocking out all the time.
I have gone a few weeks without mentioning my Ottawa Sens, but can I just say.. What Up?!?! They are kicking ass and taking names (last night not included of course!) but seriously. Stanley Cup all the way baby! Last thought on the Sens for tonight, I gave my grandfather a foam Senators hat shaped like a hockey puck, he wears it to peel potatoes on game days and he and my Nan have completely converted to the Sens Army. It is wonderful, now to get Jason to convert.
I am going to leave you with this fantastic Joel Plaskett Fashionable People remake Sarah shared with me. Also if you love Joel you should really check the CBC for his new song releases every Wednesday for the next few weeks, he is even making hilariously amazing YouTube videos to chronicle the recording process. JOEL=LOVE. Watch the awesomeness here!
Keep Smiling :)
Hey Kiddo, nice to see the snow. Post some more snow pics, we are not as familar with it here.
ReplyDeleteYou can have the snow...I will take rain any day :) Your letter was beautiful...now if I can get motivated to write one back lol xoxo
