My time in the homeland has ended once again, at least for the time being. It's reassuring coming home to find that nothing has really changed though, that I can pick up where I left off with everyone! I'm so glad and grateful to have such amazing friends and family.
You may or may not have noticed, but I've made a few changes to my blog layout and format. I added a new page, devoted to the vlogs (those are video blogs!) so you can find them a little easier! I've also created a new About Me page and I'm going to make a few more changes over the next few days. Let me know what your thoughts are on the changes!
I've mentioned briefly a couple of ideas I have for expanding my subject matter, I am currently working on making some Snap Scarves. They are basically cotton scarves with snaps on the ends to allow multiple configurations. My goal is to get them done this weekend, although my suspicion is that it may take a little more time than that. Once I get to work on them I'll include a how-to guide. If I can just figure out how to attach the snaps to the scarves it will be a quick & easy project!
Currently a pile of fabric, soon to be a super fly pile of scarves! |
As for what I did while I was home, I'll try and keep the summary brief but informative! After making that fantastic BSB video with J-Dar [which can be watched here.] I was pretty busy trekking the city and catching up with friends and family.
With the bus strike still underway I put my boots to the pavement and power walked through much of the greater HRM area. What I learned on these travels is that walking across the bridge is less scary than I imagined and it can be done in about 9.5 minutes if one walks quickly and doesn't stop to look around. I lucked out weather wise, it was fairly warm while I was home a nice break from the chilliness I've experienced in Ottawa.
While in NS I had time to catch up with my ynet family which was amazing. I missed the kids & my co-workers a great deal. It was nice to go back and see how the kids are doing, they were a huge part of my life and definitely one of the things I miss most about Halifax. That being said it was also wonderful to see my ynet coworkers it has been strange not seeing them everyday!
I spent a great deal of time visiting my Nan & Dee as well. We talk quite a bit on the phone but air hugs aren't quite as satisfying as the real thing! I managed to get Jason in to visit them as well which was pretty exciting. My Nan is just weeks away from her 93rd birthday and she's still not ready to slow down!
I had a delicious pizza date with a couple of my friends from school (I was going to say high school but then remembered we'd known each other since elementary!). It was great to see them and hear about their lives, especially over stuffed crust pizza.
The few photos I took while I was home. The SMU football field which will always hold a place in my heart. My super fly fold up American Eagle sunglasses that literally lasted 5 days, thank goodness they were only $4. Then of course the obligatory silly picture of J-Dar & I.

J-Dar & I also made a rap video to the Aaron Carter song Aaron's Party which you can enjoy below!
Keep Smiling :)
