Happy Monday!

I've decided to challenge myself to blog everyday this week (I suppose I'm also challenging you to read it everyday)!

Jay & I are preparing to start camping in early May we've checked out a few campgrounds in the Ottawa region. The goal is to find places outside of the city, but within an hour or so of home so we can go right after work and make a weekend of it!

This is the first Spring/Summer season Jay and I will have spent in the same province so we are full of ideas of things we've missed doing together. Camping is the top of that list though, so hopefully we'll be able to go lots this year.

It seemed like such a simple idea but once we started thinking about it, we managed to come up with a sizable list of things to do to prepare, and an even longer list of things we need to buy if we're going to make it for two days in a tent.

Camping has to be one of my favorite things do as the temperature climbs. My favorite childhood memories are of the summers my family spent camping in P.E.I. We always went to the same campground (Marco Polo Land) and spent a couple of weeks there exploring the tourist traps of Cavendish, P.E.I.

I also went on a very eventful camping trip with some of my BFF's one particularly rainy Nova Scotia night. Despite the fact it was early Spring and the campground was mostly deserted they put us in the lowest lying site. The nice weather in the afternoon gave way to a night of torrential rain, unrelenting torrential rain.

Our campsite flooded, we pulled up our sleeping bags, secured a tarp and umbrella over the windows of the Honda CRV and the five of us curled up for a long cramped night. The water on the ground outside the car actually came up past my ankle bone. Lesson learned: CRV's are not made to sleep 5 grown adults and if the forecast suggests rain, ask for a campsite on a hill.

In summation (big word eh?) camping is awesome. No matter the weather, my age, or the duration of the trip I love sleeping in tents after a s'mores & hot dogs roasted over the campfire.

Feel free to share your favorite camping stories in the comments. As I started writing I camp up with many other stories, perhaps I'll share those tomorrow!

Keep Smiling :)
