It's raining. hard. This probably should be depressing but it's rather soothing to sit inside with my feet up watching the Olympics while it rains outside.
How can rain possibly be a good thing on vacation? I'm glad you asked! If it keeps raining we might be able to actually have *gasp* a bonfire tomorrow night, which would be awesome. It's been a very hot, dry summer in both Halifax and Ottawa so I've yet to enjoy some fire roasted marshmallows.
Rain in Ottawa also doesn't have the same feel as in NS. It's usually doesn't last as long in Ottawa, in NS it can rain for days straight (that does get a little depressing!) The sound of rain on the roof is comforting, especially if you want to curl up with a good book.
Speaking of good books, if you are on the lookout for a good read to finish off your summer vacation I recommend The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. We were reading it for the Young Georgia Love Book Club so if you do read it you should join in on the discussion on Jessie's blog!
I can't believe it is August already! Where has the summer gone? It feels like I've done a lot, but there is still so much I want to do before going back to real life in September. My main goal in July was to connect with other bloggers and I feel quite successful in that. I've met lots of lovely bloggers and found so many amazing blogs to read that I'm never bored on my computer anymore!
For August I think my goal is to spend as much time outside as possible and to spend as little time as possible online! I'll keep blogging but I think I am going to set a daily time limit for myself. Otherwise I end up spending an entire afternoon online which isn't always ideal.
Another goal is to watch what I eat a little more closely. Not a diet as much as just making an effort to avoid unnecessary chemicals, pesticides, preservatives, etc. It's scary to think about all the unnatural ingredients in food we eat everyday!
One thing I really want to try is making my own granola bars. I've been trying to find recipes online but if you have a recipe for that, or any other (mostly) natural and delicious snacks please share them in the comments!!!
I've been trying to get a few pictures of my recent adventures. We're spending a few days at Jay's parents trailer and on the way we stopped in Stewiacke, NS to grab a snack and stretch our legs. Little known fact: Stewiacke is halfway between the North Pole and the Equator. There is also a giant Mastodon statue, it's fun!

I'm always cold in the car so I had to borrow Jay's sweater since mine was packed away. Cozy, but not the best for photos!
Keep Smiling :)
Have you tried Pinterest for granola bars? I know they have natural energy balls that look pretty delicious. If you aren't apart of Pinterest and need an invite, let me know! I will be happy to give you the hook up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting me on my blog today! :0)
Halfway between the North Pole and the equator! Would love to go there! You're so lucky to be doing a lot of traveling!
