So, as I discussed at length in my previous post tonight it has been a while since I last blogged! Quite a bit has happened, so in the first in what I hope will be a series of Sunday night blog updates (again, see previous post for explanation!) here's a recap on what's been happening in my lovely life.
August started with another wonderful week in NS. A bonfire with some great friends, a board game night with others and another fantastic night at my cottage.
It was a truly perfect vacation, I was able to see almost everyone which was phenomenal. It was great to finally get home for a few weeks, rather than a few days over the holidays.
I love this girl. We are a perfect pair. |
The only black cloud of vacation was my flight home. Four hours delayed, which I found out once I got to the airport. We had to be there early anyway since Jay was flying with another airline, so he made it back home about six hours before me. It was frustrating since I was supposed to land at about 11am, and didn't get in until about 3pm.
I've enjoyed my last week of real vacation, I'm headed back to work this week. School will start up in just a couple weeks so it's full steam ahead with real life again now. Jay went back to work this week, so we've started to re-adjust to our regular routine.
Since we got back I've been working hard to organize our apartment. I am a borderline hoarder of treasures, papers, cards, pictures, etc. I had been keeping it all in old shoe boxes covered with stickers, but decided it was time to upgrade to some plastic bins that could be labelled and stored. Our shelves look much cleaner now, I love it!
We went to see The Campaign, the new Will Farrell movie last week. It was hilarious, I would recommend it if you are looking for something simple and funny. We laughed the whole way through, and there was even a shout out to NS!
Two of my friends were able to come visit for a few days as part of their vacation through Ontario. It was great to have them around and show them the city. Ottawa isn't the most exciting place, but it's always fun to take a stroll around Parliament and Ikea!
While they were here we also enjoyed a delicious dinner at The Works, which is a gourmet burger bistro. You get to pick what type of burger and bread you want and then from a ton of fancy toppings with names like Sk8tr Boy, Malibu Beach house, Ho Hum and Crappy Tire. Best of all, they are opening a franchise in Halifax sometime soon!
We updated our bedroom dresser by changing the drawer pulls. It looks pretty fly now if I do say so myself (and it should- drawer pulls are pricy!) We had been living for months with a broken handle on one of the drawers so this is a definite improvement.

My visiting friends had mentioned they use Mason Jars for all their baking goodies, like sugar and flour so while we were out Jay and I also picked up a box of those. Gone are the mismatched containers littering the cupboard and counters. We now have a neat collection of nicely labelled jars, easy to access. We may need to go back for some smaller jars (these are 1L). I love how tidy it makes the counter look, plus Mason Jars are awesome.
That's been our life this week. I am looking forward to getting back to work this week and hopefully Jay and I will find a fun, outdoor activity to fill next weekend. Hopefully this week holds lots of fun and happiness for you! Until next Sunday...
Keep Smiling :)
