Can I Go Nowhere With You?

What a whirlwind of a week! It all started with last week's big news, and then there was the job of sharing the news with everyone. There are still lots of decisions and plans to be made but right now we are basking in the joy of being in love and newly engaged. It is certainly an exciting time!

Jay was away much of the week, and I had a crazy week at school. Lots of assignments, quizzes and presentations to get done. Only a few weeks left until my placement starts, I can't even wait. It will be great to get out in the field actually using the skills I have learned.

With Jay away I was able to catch up with a friend and enjoy a night of celebrating, not only an engagement but an amazing friendship. We sat and talked for hours, I was sad to see the night end.

Friends from school and I visited a Reggio Emilia centre this week, in an effort to learn more about other types of early learning programs. Reggio Emilia programs allow children to direct their learning, teachers act as collaborators, and materials in the environment facilitate greater learning. This is obviously a simplified explanation  Wikipedia explains it quite clearly though so if you are interested you can read about it here. It is fascinating program, I like the idea of letting children guide their own learning, it will ensure the children are more engaged and excited,  and when done right all the "essentials" can still be learned.

After visiting the Reggio centre we went shopping, scoring some fantastic deals on placement appropriate clothes at Old Navy. I am in love with their thermal tops, so pretty and cozy. I have also become the biggest fan of wearing tights as pants, they are just so darn comfy!

Thursday and Friday were big presentation days, kicked off with a bacon and egg breakfast date (more like a party) and lots of candy shopping (and eating!) I feel pretty good about how the presentations went and now my partner and I have eliminated the majority of our big projects for the semester.

Jay's Momma and I also pulled off a major surprise for Jay this weekend, planning a  visit for her and Jay's dad for a couple of days. This was their first visit since we moved, so it was exciting to have them here and play tour guide for a weekend! Best of all, Jay was majorly surprised - he had no idea- I told him we had to loiter at the airport because there was going to be a Gangnam Style flash mob, and based on past ridiculousness on my part, he tolerated me long enough for his parents to arrive! Mission Accomplished.

We visited Parliament Hill, the Byward Market and the War Museum. It's been a while since Jay and I frolicked around Parliament so it was fun. It was also only the second time we actually went inside, Ottawa looks quite lovely from the top of the Peace Tower. We ate delicious (and filling) meals, including one at Red Lobster that was amazing! I have been craving shrimp for weeks and they did not disappoint!

Now we are catching up on the new season of The Walking Dead. I am so crazy in love with this show, zombies are so interesting (and terrifying.)

I don't have any great pictures to share today. With so much going on I didn't stop to take many photos, I'll try and capture a few this week!

All in all a fabulous (though incredibly busy!) few days. I am cautiously optimistic that this week will be slightly more relaxed.

Hope all is well in your world!

Keep Smiling :)
