I Make Art!

High five if you guessed that was a rip off of I'm Elmo and I Know It. I don't actually make a lot of art, but I have spent essentially this whole weekend making resources for my placement. On Friday my supervisor mentioned you can get laminators for $30 at Wal-Mart so right after work I dragged Jay out to get one. Best. Purchase. Ever.

I have made a bunch of memory games, with different themes, some puzzles and a few mazes that can be reused. I also printed off a winter themed tic-tac-toe board. I think on the back of the page I will print the summer version! Seriously laminating is so much fun! Plus I print most things black and white so then I have an excuse to colour too!

Needless to say placement is going mostly well. I am still working on my confidence when leading activities for the whole group. I'm not intimidated by the children but knowing your supervisor is watching closely is a little nerve racking. This week was volcanoes, we did baking soda and vinegar eruptions, coke and mentos experiments and I made some tissue paper volcanoes with the children. It was awesome, they were so excited to learn about volcanoes.

This weekend we've packed in a lot of fun. We caught up on The Walking Dead and Chicago Fire (an amazing new show!) seriously my two favourite shows at the moment. Followed closely by The Big Bang Theory but I digress. We went to Lonestar, aka the Cowboy Restaurant, last night for the first time in a while, did some shopping and went to see The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I've had the book on loan from the library for a few weeks now, it's going to be due back any day and I didn't have time to read it but now I'm wishing I had. The movie was really well done, we both enjoyed it.

Perhaps the biggest news this week, Jay has shaved his moustache off. It started driving him crazy so he shaved it off and is back to looking like his old self.

Leaf Tornado!
Before the big shave
After the shave.
So, that's our life this week. Hope you are enjoying life and finding many reasons to smile.

Keep Smiling :)
