Weekend Adventures

After our adventures at Bluesfest on Friday we spent much of Saturday morning relaxing, it was a later night than we're used to. We did eventually drag out butts out of bed and actually ended up having a pretty eventful day.

We made the trek out to Carp to the Diefenbunker museum Saturday afternoon. It's the never used underground bunker built during the Cold War to protect the government from nuclear attack. Though Prime Minister Diefenbunker never visited the bunker it was built during his time in office.

Jay had been to the museum before but this was my first visit. Though never used the museum is staged with beds, desks, etc that reflect the planned usage of the space. There are offices for everything from the Prime Minister, to CBC, to the Mortgage and Housing Board. Everything needed to rebuild Canadian society in the event of attack.

I took a few (ok, a lot) of pictures, it was an interesting way to spend an afternoon. It was freezing cold in the bunker though, a stark contrast to the hot temperature outside.

Aside from the museum we went for a couple of long walks, watched Scrubs, did laundry, the usual weekend stuff. We made pizza and garlic fingers for supper one night, they were delicious!

I love propaganda posters and enjoy the use of "Eh?" in this one.

Be-a Alerte and Just-in Case.  Get it? So cheesy!
