Today is the start of my second week with my own class of 10 kindergarteners! I was so nervous and excited last week I barely slept at all. Everything went great, the kids are high energy, but so much fun and I think it will be a great year.
Flippy arrived two weeks ago, which is super exciting! I had forgotten how wonderful it was to have her around on a regular basis! Jay and I are doing our best to drive her crazy with our squabbling but so far she's unfazed haha.
After she arrived the three of us went to Jay's final frisbee game of the summer. His team won, and they are staying together into the fall. I am going to make cheer signs before the next game, to make up for playing on my phone during the last game.
I've missed two weeks of life recaps, so here's the rundown.
We've spent the long weekend relaxing, trying to recover from a summer of awesomeness! Friday night we did go out for chips, salsa and margaritas at LoneStar. It was delicious, as always. I cannot get enough of that salsa. One night headed downtown again to check out the Mosaika light show, it was the second time Jay and I had seen it this summer and it didn't disappoint. I love sitting on the grass at parliament, and we got candy beforehand so it was another fantastic time.
Jay and I also ventured downtown for a walk around and took a few photos. They've spent a lot of time (and money) in recent years restoring the bricks of the Parliament buildings and I think it was worth it. Obviously my cell phone photos don't do it justice, but the buildings look gorgeous now.

This past weekend, Jay and I fought pretty much the whole time, I drank some delicious champagne and the three of us watched as many episodes of Friday Night Lights as we could squeeze in. I used to watch it on TV, back in the day, and aside from being wholly unrealistic, it is a pretty great show, I'm addicted.
Sunday we headed to Ottawa Folk Fest to check out our fellow Haligonian, Mo Kenney's free set. She was amazing as always, you should check her stuff out on YouTube. Afterwards we got the chance to meet her and thank her for the show which was nice. Seriously though, go check her out on YouTube, I recommend her Deja vu duet with Joel Plaskett.
The sunlight kind of ruined this one of us, but it's all I've got! |
Yeah, then we met these guys. I'm using it for my Show & Tell today. |
AMAZING! She is delightful. |
Some graffiti I found. I love finding random quotes in surprising places.
Keep Smiling :)
I love being here!! I love seeing this city, and exploring it with you :)
