We made it to Riviere du Loup! I was up late last night chatting with my poppa, so this morning came a little too quickly but the journey here wasn't as long or sad as I imagined despite my fatigue. I couldn't help but feel like one of the Irish Traveller girls on the TLC/BBC show "My Big Fat Gypsie Wedding" last night when I realized I was sleeping in my bed at my parents in preparation for my move with the man friend (That's you Jay!).
If only today had been my big fat wedding day with my light up dress that weighs more than I do.... (That's only funny if you've seen the show I by no means actually wish today was my wedding day! Their weddings are just so lavish and extravagant I'd want it to happen any day-google it, you'll love it!)
Anyway that was a whole side rant, long story short. I left this morning feeling pretty sad (and I still am) but lucky for you lovely people I am pretty much the best pen pal ever and I haven't developed a fear of flying yet so I'll be home often :) I do miss Nova Scotia already though I could go for a good lobster tail donair right about now.
So onto the most exciting part of today-the giant stuff. This may be the third time Jay and I have made this journey but it is the first time I've been able to convince him stopping for giant stuff off the highway is fun. First we stopped to see the much coveted blueberry in Oxford, NS I'm not sure if we failed epically and found only the giant blueberries baby cousin, but it was not as giant as in my dreams. Still pretty terrific though!
Then we drove through No Funswick and stopped in Nackawic to see the World's Largest Axe (I googled it, it's a tribute to the foresting industry). Sadly both Jay and I were slain by it's mighty blade.
Jay met his fate under the shiny blade of the World's Largest Axe |
Kim rushed to his defense but alas she too fell under the strength of the axe |
Perhaps most impressive of this journey (besides us being slain by a giant stationary axe) is that rather than rap and sleep the whole nine hours I stayed mostly awake and kept Jay company with my terrific french vocabulary... I am particularily great at saying Bienvenue, he says I should be greeting people somewhere. We also say two deer playing on the side of the road... totally adorbs. And then the jeep rolled over 066666 km which is apparently very exciting :)
When we finally got to our hotel, they upgraded us just like COSMO always says can happen, so now instead of a view of the road we have a balcony looking over the St. Laurent River. BOMB!
My blodder (that's blog fodder) is running low tonight, this is the end of my stories and photos for today, let me know what you think I'm trying to make this interesting, funny and informative and I'm not sure it falls under any of those categories.
I'll leave you with a picture of my fashionable sister in the sheer leopard print poncho that we almost purchased to send back and forth a la the sisterhood of the traveling pants. They have many varieties at Winners so scoop yours up before they are gone!
This girl is a rock star. |
Keep Smiling :)
p.s. A challenge for y'all: We have this song "Shelter from the Storm" on a CD and I absolutely love it but it brings me sorrow because it reminds me of a sad TV show or movie but I can't figure out which one... If anyone can figure it out I will give you 152.67 high fives, which we all know would be awesome!
p.p.s. YNet's end of summer party was today, and I missed it so I will also give 43.83 high fives to anyone who tells me all about it! Bonus high-fives if you've got pictures hahah!
I thought No Funswick was actually not too bad, I mean the highway is new after all! Not too bad for our first day of travelling if I do say so myself.
ReplyDeleteAussi je donnerai 34 "fist-bumps" a n'importe qui se repondre en francais.
ReplyDeleteC'est la belle langue de la belle province!
Kim, I love you!!
ReplyDeleteHannah
YouthNet party was pretty interesting minus the not so fun George W speech but young C was in fine form without a bra!(sorry no photos of that but who needs one) Kadeem's T-shirt look awesome minus the old school logo! Whats your address maybe a care package is in order! Well I will let laura tell you the rest of the stories!
ReplyDeleteWikipedia tells me the song was on: Jerry Maguire, Alias, Criminal Minds, and FlashForward.
ReplyDeleteHigh fives for me!
Also, stop your lies, you don't like lobster :)
I love you back Hannah!
ReplyDeleteAdrianna, I can believe all of what you say. I hope J will answer my request for a free tshirt, I did give him a whole bunch of stuff (and my soul for 10 months!) And since you answered you get 43.83 high fives, although they may be difficult to mail ahha!
Kathryn I think it was Criminal Minds, that's the only one of those I watch and it seems kind of fitting! You do get 157.67 high fives!
