Happy Labour Day!

Greetings from our still furniture-less apartment! We spent the past two days painting the bedrooms and the living room/dining room. It's just the same color as before but a brighter happier version! It covered up a lot of the scratches and marks left by the previous tenants and now it feels more like ours. I took a couple pictures when we finished yesterday.

It's hard to tell in the photos but Jay is practically perfectly clean and I had paint splattered all over my shirt, shorts, arms and legs and a little in my hair and on my face. He told me it looked like someone had thrown paint at me (and he didn't even because we made a pact not to do such silly things!)

You can't see how bad the paint is splattered but trust me it was!

You're welcome :)
I am writing this as Jay builds our bed frame from IKEA there are 43 instructions or something so I am hanging out for moral support and to be the DJ. Being the DJ is pretty easy work since we're just listening to 101.3 The Bounce on the interwebs. The only downside is when the ads come on talking about Halifax we forget that we aren't there and can't go see beach volleyball or shop at Mic Mac Mall.

Jay has been very tolerant of my music choices lately we listen exclusively to the Ottawa equivalent of the Bounce in the car and when we're inside working we get to listen to The Bounce. I am living the dream. Minus the fact of course that I have to sit on the floor to write this, but I'm not whining.

Speaking of the car, I finally drove around this city. I decided that my best bet was to drive the 10 minutes from our hotel to our apartment on a Sunday morning and I rocked it until we got to the parking lot of our apartment (It's really more of a driveway), but it's not very easy to manouver anyway after 5 minutes of watching me struggle and trying to give directions Jay finally had to take over the wheel and park because we would have sat there all day and after about minute 2 I had entirely given up trying. It was mostly very pathetic on my behalf, but at least I own it right? And to be fair I haven't driven at all since way back in March or something.

My weakness when driving is always having someone to ask questions and hand over responsibility to,  if I go out by myself I remember everything you are supposed to do. It all comes back to my YouthNet advice from everyone way back at the end of our summer of love and awesomeness, which was that I should trust my gut! I'm still working on that but I try and I think I've gotten better.

I love that people are reading my blog it makes me really happy and makes it feel like we aren't so far apart (which we aren't really!). Once I find gainful employment and Jason's gets figured out we will hopefully start planning a trip to our homeland! Until then I promise I will keep updating the blog, I actually love writing and sometimes I think I forget just how much. I probably should have done PR or something in university instead.  I also love talking though so I could probably have my own talk show, except that on talk shows you have to let other people talk too.

I'm totally worried about what I am going to find as employment and moreso when I will find it. I have nailed down nine hours a week with an afterschool program around the corner from our house and the people and program seems totally great, but sadly nine hours a week is not really enough. I know that things take time and that I could have been coming here with no hours and yada yada yada but I wouldn't be me if I wasn't worried about something.

There is a kids book I used to read to the kids this summer called Wemberly Worried It is essentially the story of my life, if I were a mouse. I think it is no coincidence that Wemberly and Kimberley sound the same. Essentially the premise is that Wemberly worries about everything, but in the end she is able to relax and worry a little less. I wish I was her haha. It's a seriously good book when I get my Ottawa library card I am going to read it to Jason every night (or more likely get him to read it to me!)

I think (in fact I know) that I mentioned a serious love of Eminem in one of my last blogs but I have to say I for realz love him..That Sky Full of Lighters song with him and Bruno Mars (who I also love) is absolutely amazing! [Side thought: J-Dar, we never did make our Bruno Mars video, I hope you are practicing!] Kind of related kind of not I also have a serious obsession with Drake, he is all that! I feel like this is a sign that I need to stop writing and let you lovely people get on with your day, now I am just ranting about rappers that I love which most of you already know is just about every rapper in the world.

I'll leave you with this thought: Jay and I have almost matching house slippers now, and we love them.

I love you!

Keep Smiling :)

P.S. Rexy hasn't gotten into any shenanigans lately (at least when we've been around which isn't often since we have no furniture!) If he does I will keep you posted!

P.P.S. Jason has the bed half made already! I got to help hold up some boards, he is currently using his hand as a hammer.

Breaking NEWS! It took 3.5 hours and a lot of sweat on Jason's behalf (and a walk to Subway on mine) but the bed frame is finished! Here's Jason showing it off :) Now onto the "entertainment centre" TV stand/bookcase!

Also, unrelated to this post but I did find on my phone a couple pictures from our visit to the "Cowboy Restaurant" it was awesome. It was dos fajitas Wednesday so we had Fajitas and drinks and were harassed by scary hornets and flies the whole time! But I still love it there. All the waitresses have good cowgirl names like Dolly and Jersey. I will brainstorm mine and let you know :)

  6. This is lovely. I may have to start my own blog just to stay part of the family bahah!! I have of course been practising Kimberley - I am nothing if not a talented dance star, don't even worry. Also, your blog proves to me a little more everyday that we are indeed related - covered in paint and without even a decent paint war to blame for it, how very Dares of you. You nut. I think I will take Bobo and go on an adventure of our own, and then blog about it. LOVE YOU
    Your best sister. :)
