It's Friday, Friday.. We've got no furniture on Friday! Everybody's looking forward to the weekend!

Bonjour!
I hope things are going swell for you and that you have big and exciting plans for the long weekend! Aside from the fact this weekend kind of marks the end of the summer fun it's totally fun to have three days of weekend (Sorry to those of you who don't enjoy such luxury--I hope you get a make up long weekend!)

Jay and I will spend this weekend sleeping in a hotel despite the fact we have a lovely apartment as we have no furniture. Yes folks, you read that right... we have no furniture. Isn't our life so hard? Yeah, not as much as we might have you believe.

It's mostly just an inconvenience, as we keep booking a hotel, sleeping there and leaving at 8am, only to have to rebook a room at 3pm. Then today when we finally found out the movers aren't showing until next week we couldn't get a room at the hotel we really like (and can mostly afford) and of course it's a long weekend so no vacancies. That reminds me of the country song....
"Down in Dallas lord those girls are fine
In Carolina they make you lose your
mind sometimes
But it don't matter, it's wasted on me
'Cause everywhere I go you're the
only one I see
So hang a sign on the wall there's no vacancy
No more rooms at all, this heart is taken, yeah
No more vacancies this heart is taken...
this heart is taken
No Vacancy"
...in case you want to YouTube it the song is by Adam Gregory and it's brilliant!

Anyway so back on topic, we had to book a room at a different hotel, less decent location, higher price tag, crazier parking lot. All in all not awesome. I remember when staying in a hotel was super fun and exciting but in the past 7 months Jay and I have spent TOO many nights in hotels and I am ready to have our own bed and mostly to have pots and pans and dishes so we can cook for ourselves. That's the real downer in all of this. That and we have all kinds of free time this weekend but next week Jay and I are both working (the number of hours is yet to be determined but the amount of home time will be diminished)

There is a silver liner however (actually two) to not having our furniture at this point. Jay and I are going to paint our bedroom just to brighten it up a little and not having furniture to work around will certainly make it much easier... also our bed frame and TV stand are going to be delivered tonight so assembling those before having the furniture might also be easier and then when our bed and stuff gets here we can just put it onto the already assembled stuff. I'm excited to watch Jason assemble the furniture, he won't really want my help so I'll get to watch and call him out on all his silly mistakes (never mind that he'll quickly be able to prove they aren't mistakes and that I am just in fact crazy—I try to ignore that part!).

So hopefully we will get some great pictures of the painting and the furniture building and mostly eventually all our own furniture which we are starting to get pretty whiny about not having.. I know you are thinking “Kim whining? No Way!” but it's true sometimes I get whiny, it's rare but it does happen occasionally.

We went shopping last night and got some great stuff for the apartment, especially from IKEA. I love that place, we got a duvet cover for $14 and it's pretty fabulous and a wok for stir-fry for $7. The best part is they have a restaurant in the store with super cheap food! Jay and I both had 15 meatballs, juice, fries and mashed potatoes for like $10 and it was even mostly delicious.

Today I crossed the threshold into becoming an official Ontario resident, signing up for an Ontario health card. I got my photo taken but they won't send me the card until November so there is no way to know if my lazy eyes got the best of me in yet another ID photo... when I know, you'll know.

Service Ontario seemed to do everything one needs in one place, unlike in NS where you have to go all over the place to get everything done. We were pumped to get my health card and new driver's liscences all in one place since you can do everything, even get married (I'll get to that) right there in this one big service centre. Sadly the one other thing we needed to do which was trade our liscences you can't do at the place we went.. SERIOUSLY?

I did get my health card worked out and we got to see a super cute couple get hitched, I think that's the job I want- To oversee City Hall weddings. It would be so cute and romantic and you would get to learn so much about people's lives. But I think here I need to parlez vous francis which is so far a no-go. Jason doesn't seem to think I could get by on the two sentences I know so it's time for French lessons I suppose.

I saved the best for last though amigos so prepare yourselves! I made my first VLOG (that's a Video Blog!) hopefully uploading it all works out in the end and you love it and it brings you joy. If no joy is brought into your life I do apologize and I will try harder next time.  I will warn you it's a tour of our new place and I walked around as I made it so if you've seen my general stomp around and flail prepare yourself for that in video form.

Have the most wonderful of weekends, thanks for reading my blog and all the comments they make me happy! I love you all and I'm glad we're friends!

 Keep Smiling :)

p.s. Rachel & Jordan are in the final five on Big Brother woot! Rachel for the win! That's my official prediction!
