Who did Frankenstein take to the prom?? His ghoul friend! Get it?!? Ghoul Friend!! Like girlfriend but scary!!!

Happy Sunday!!

I know I have failed as a blogger and vlogger (that's a video blogger!) in the past few weeks but the wait is over. I have made my third vlog since living here and I will keep them coming now, this one was much easier to make without trying to make a video on the computer and then another on my camera and mash them together. So brace yourself for a lot more staring at my face!

You've waited long enough so here it is!!

Before you start I don't know what happened to my original greeting but imagine my blog starts with "Good Morning!" because that is what I actually said!

P.S. The picture this chose to pause on is GROSS! I apologize!

Now that you've watched it the last question from my reading of Wemberly Worried by Kevin Henkes, was "What if I have to cry?" not what if I hate to cry like it sounds like I said.. It didn't seem worth editing and re-reading to correct one word so now you know. It's really is the story of my life!

Another clarification I was too lazy to re-record, the wedding show with Kristen was super fun, just not exciting in the sense that it was quite a bit smaller than I imagined. We got to see some cool stuff though and take a break from the boys in our lives which is always nice! We almost got to pet a dove too, but the mean man pulled it away when he learned she wasn't getting married in Ottawa... seriously like full on retreated in about 0.3 seconds. RUDE.

I was extremely excited to learn that the cowboy restaurant does weddings though! Again unknot your knickers no marriage at a cowboy ranch in Ottawa is in the future for Jay or I but I highly recommend it to those of you considering marriage in the near future, and if you currently live in NS it would be a destination wedding! It's also the perfect place to renew your vows....ok I'm desperate someone please just get married there!!

I think I shared about every thought I could on the Sens game but in case it was unclear I had the best time! Jason was much more cheerful than I depicted him, it just seemed less in comparison to my crazy. I was jumping up and down by the end, I am a true member of the Sens Army now, and come on two goals in a minute, that's impressive!
Jason and the Tower O Rings at The Works before the game!

So excited!!

"Act excited Jason!" Haha!

After the win! Even more excited!
I really don't have any other exciting news to share. All is going well here both Jason and I are enjoying work more and more each day, we are over the first month of newness so it's only going to keep getting better as we become more familiar. Reassuring thoughts most all of you have shared with me during the past month of my new job! I always calm down eventually! Just takes longer than the average bear!

Since my last post Jay had his birthday, the big 2-4! I took him out on the town, wined and dined him! Naw just playing! We had a quiet dinner of steak and potatoes at home, complete with a birthday cake that may or may not have been glued together with icing as it broke in the pan! Complete with Lego, new bike pedals and criminal minds not a bad night!

That is all my love for you lovely peoples at the moment! Have a fantastic week, I won't promise another vlog (that's a video blog) or blog because those seem to be promises I can't keep! But I will try harder to update more often!

A photo from our hike on Thanksgiving weekend!!

My pretty flowers!
Keep Smiling :)

I have come up with a clever title for my book reviews, let me know what you think!

All I do is read, read, read, no matter what! Got books on my mind I can't never give them up! Everytime I step into the Library everybody's hands go up!

Today's review is of one of the last books I just finished, coming of a strong recommendation from Jason. The book was A Line in the Sand: Canadians at War in Afghanistan by Captain Ray Wiss MD and I would highly recommend it. From the title alone it's not hard to imagine why Jason would find this book interesting, he devoured it and then passed it on to me. I was a little skeptical at first but after one day of reading it on the bus I came home and proclaimed that it is indeed as good as he said. It is written as Captain Wiss' diary of his second tour in Afghanistan, he opens with his thoughts on why he wanted to go back to Afghanistan and the importance of the mission and I'll be honest he opened my eyes to a lot of great positives to the mission. He doesn't sugarcoat anything, some sections I found a little military heavy and had many questions for Jason but overall it's very accessible even if you don't have a great deal of knowledge about the military. He explained a lot about Afghan culture that I was unaware of before and the ways in which our troops are respecting the culture and engaging with the local citizens. What I liked the most was that he shed light on the numerous positive accomplishments of troops in Afghanistan, accomplishments seldom mentioned in the mainstream media. I had no idea all the good being done it is incredible! When things are handled poorly or don't go as planned he is as honest about those as about the successes which is really what makes this book so brilliant. It's an honest account of one person's experiences, sprinkled with the many amazing and touching stories of other soldiers who he met during his tour. As I said I highly recommend it.

I'm currently reading Hitler's Biography by Ian Kershaw (I know I might as well be back at SMU taking my history degree over again!) it's extremely well written. I'm only on page 141 of about 1000 so I've got a long way to go but so far I have learned quite a bit. It probably seems a little morbid, but I have read and researched so much on the subject that I want to know as much as possible about Hitler and how he came to be. I am simultaneously reading another book by a holocaust survivor to help balance things out.

We are reading a lot, literally at the library every Saturday to get more books! I feel silly for not making proper use of the library at home all these years- although that was largely due to an outstanding fine I don't believe I deserve! Ridiculous I know!

P.S. I'll be impressed if you know what song inspired the book review title!

Just so you know I was watching your vlog while my co-workers were watching a movie, and I was laughing hysterically; I'm pretty sure they were secretly giving me death stares.
