Yesterday was another gloriously sunny summer day here in Ontario. Rather than spend another weekend wandering downtown Ottawa, we decided to go on a day trip to Kingston (about two hours away).
Jay lived there for about 8 months last year, while he completed a course for work so he is pretty familiar with the place. I visited him there a couple of times, and always found the city to be beautiful.
It reminds both of us a lot of Halifax. The downtown core is smaller and cleaner than Ottawa's, there is a gorgeous waterfront (though no Ocean views!) and many adorable little shops to browse.
This weekend was also the Kingston Busker Festival, which was awesome as we will miss the Halifax Busker Festival this summer. There were lots of events going on all over the city to celebrate.
We had a fantastic day, it was nice to get out of Ottawa and do something different for a change. All that time in the car also gave us the chance to chat about life, the news, politics, etc. Since Jay does the driving I also get the coveted role of roadtrip DJ. We listened to some Billy Talent, David Myles, my beloved Atticus 3 compilation CD and of course our standby, Joel Plaskett.
Me being me, I managed to drag Jay off to the mall for a few hours as well. I love a new mall, and the chance for stores I've never been to before. I got a couple of cute summer dresses at H&M that I am stoked to start wearing, I'll have to try and get some photos of them up on here.
Speaking of photos, I'm going to finish things off today with photos from our trip and a link to one of my favorite Joel Plaskett songs, because I really talk about him too much to not share! Joel Plaskett, Come On Teacher (Little secret: I used to change the channel when this video came on Much Music before I realized how amazing Joel is).

p.s. Jay gets credit for all the photos, again! I've been putting him to work as my official photographer.
